Issue with Drawing Resource Transfer Utility

Using Inventor 2023.  I run the Drawing Resource Transfer Utility (the utility), but target file is not updated.

I start the utility, select our current template file as the source, I select all of the resources so they are transferred.  I then select the target file.  It then asks if I want to transfer, I select YES.

It goes through its cycle, but after its all done, the target is not updated.

The only thing I can see is at the end of the log, it has a line Save and Close where the target file is listed.  But the status for this operation is SKIPPED (see attached photo).

Can anyone help me with this??

Thanks !

Chris

Hi

Does this happen the first time or constantly? Have you tried restarting the program or the computer? You may need to factory reset Inventor or even reinstall it.
Check out these different forms, starting with the least painful.

KVA ANSI-A and D failed.

Might need to select overwrite.

Pretty much continuously.  Been happening for a while, I'm just now trying to get it resolved.

So I would recommend reinstalling the software.

Hi! I vaguely remember seeing the behavior. I think this might be due to certain corrupted objects. If possible, please share the source idw/dwg file and the target idw/dwg file here. Or, you can send them in zip to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

Here are the two files in question.

Cadi Drawing Template.idw is the source; SP00430 Gang Welder.idw is the target.

Thanks for looking.

(I had to manually edit the SP00430 title block to get this part moving.  They're still not the same, but at least I could get the job moving.)

Hi Chris,

I am sorry there is something missing here. SP00430 Gang Welder.idw references the same named ipn file and iam file. But, only an ipt file is attached. Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard helps transfer drawing objects like title blocks, sketch symbols, and borders from one idw/dwg file to selected idw/dwg files.

Could you tell me how I can reproduce the behavior?

Many thanks!

Here are the ipt files:

Other parts are Library and Content Center parts.

Will this work??

Titleblock KVA ANSI-A is used in the drawing SP00430 Gang Welder.idw

Drawing Resource Transfer Utility failed to overwrite it.

Hi Chris,

I took a closer look at this issue. Indeed, I can confirm the behavior. It looks like the "KVA ANSI-A" and "KVA ANSI-D" title blocks both reference a bitmap image that no longer exists. The link to the image is corrupted. Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard cannot handle the exception. The easiest way to transfer the resource is to copy a sheet with the title block from the template and paste it to the target file.

Many thanks!

Thank you Johnson,

You got it very close.  You need to copy the sheets to be corrected to a sheet with new resources.

If I copied the new resources to the old idw, the resources on the new sheet were overridden by the old resources.

But when I open a new idw template file and then copied the old sheets to the new template, that worked pretty well.  There were some styles (Parts List and Feature Control Frames for me) that had to be edited, but that was easy enough.

Thanks for your help!
