iPart author Content Center with thread feature - Data types mismatch error

I'm having a weird issue that seems to be isolated.  A colleague has duplicated my steps and not seen the error...

-Create a simple part with a thread feature.

-Author the part for Content Center.  Everything works fine; the property mapping wizard automatically finds the thread designation and class.

-Cancel that and make the part an iPart.  Add the thread class and designation to the iPart table.

-Author the iPart.  The property mapping wizard doesn't find the thread designation and class, and when I try to add them, I get a "Data types mismatch" error message.

Anyone seen this?

Thanks,

Walt

Hi Walt,

The first thing I would check is to make sure you are using the same thread.xls as your colleague. Go to Get Started -> Project -> Folders Option -> Design Data. Is it the same as your colleague's setting?

If possible, please share the iPart with me directly (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com). I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

I don't use the spreadsheet from the stock location, but I haven't changed it at all...

A few more points:

  • I have Inventor Pro 2020 and 2021 loaded on my machine.  They are both behaving the same.
  • I have created parts from scratch and had them behave the same

Here's a video of what's happening:

The part I've been testing in 2021 is attached.

Thanks,

Walt

Hi Walt,

I believe you are on 2021.2 update and 2020.3.4 update, right? If yes, this may be related to a known issue in CC Publishing workflow. Somehow the column equation was interpreted incorrectly. Please uninstall 2021.2 and 2020.3.4 update for now. We are working on a fix and it should be available soon.

I am very sorry for the trouble.

Many thanks!

Hi Walt,

This is similar to the following thread. It was reported as INVGEN-48039.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/2021-2-update-issue/td-p/9868043

The fix will be available in the coming 2020.3.5 and 2021.2.1 update.

Many thanks!

Uninstalling the update fixed it for me. Thanks.
