Invetor User Interface

The user interface on Inventor 2015 seams to have changed.

Everything is in nested / collapsed button set. And now everything takes extra clicks to do what I need to do. To boot, there is a lot of empty toolbar space that could have buttons on it.

How do I change it back to the way it was just last friday? (No, I didn't change anything, I just started it up for the workday.)

You should be able to RMB (right mouse button) and adjust it

Can you post an image/screenshot to see exactly what you are having an issue with

Hi,

you can reset or change the ribbon by right clicking it and choose ribbon appearance.

If you never changed the ribbon before then click "reset ribbon".

You can also try different ones to see which one you used before.

If it is still not to your liking then you can customize the user commands to make it exactly how you want it.

I have tried that. I can "group and un-group in drop down panel" but I can't flatten the panel to the way that it was.

I have ~18" of screen width and now only 5" of used space for buttons. This is really slowing me down.

side note: Microsoft did the same (silly) thing with Win8 vs. Win7. They tried to get cute and collapse all the commands so that a desktop computer
"looks" the same as a tablet. Different reason than Inventor, but the same bad outcome.

Now to do anything but the most simple exercise takes 2-3 more clicks. That might work for my granny, but it really makes life harder for folks that use the software every day. It takes a real investment in my time to re-learn the UI workflow and it demonstrably adds to my effort. Changing stuff just to change stuff is really a bad idea..

Does that mean you were on a different version and upgraded and now you don't like the layout.. Or last friday 2015 was just fine and now "something" happened and it changed (still on 2015)..

right click on the ribbon and go to to "ribbon".. "reset ribbon"

or did you press the minimize ribbon button maybe and minimized to buttons or tabs or titles,etc.. ?

But as stated.. post a screen shot (using windows snipping tool or similar)

This is a guess, but it sounds like the ribbon is collapsed.
Try hitting the small triangle at the top-right of the ribbon a couple of times and see if that changes it back.

Can you post a screen shot? If you're talking about the ribbon appearance, you can change the size of the icons, move them up to the main ribbon, move them down to the drop-down, hide them . . .

Great - now the icons are gone and it's just text.  yay. great way to start a monday!

I did a "reset ribbon" command after messing around with it and now I get this:

inventor UI.JPG

It is set to "Ribbon Appearance > Normal"

It doesn't matter what I do, I can't get the icons back yet.

Again - why in world do companies change stuff like this? It worked just fine on Friday!

Double-click the black area to the right of the Autodesk A360 text, or single click the really small arrows.
