Hello, i'm struggling with dwg import to inventor. I've got this Cutouts pattern (see attached file) provided from my client and I need to cut this holes on my model. I can easily edit this drawing in autocad but unfortunatelly inventor is struggling with this 😕 When I import this file to the sketch Inventor creates a lot of separate lines/splines etc - which is slowing down my drawing. Please help me with this problem - maybe changing import options/ simplyfing the drawing, thanks.
Try DWG underlay. So create a sketch and use the insert DWG and try that.
The reason it is struggling is because your data is garbage in the first place. It's been translated from something else. It's all made out of lots of tiny splines/arcs so it'll always struggle with that. You could spend the time cleaning it up in Autocad, but the way I would do this is just measure it in AutoCad and redraw one of each in Inventor.
Create a sketch block of each cut out.
Pattern them.
It's a pretty easy panel this to redraw using pattern.
Inventor Certified ProfessionalHi! I believe you may need to clean up the geometry in AutoCAD before brining to Inventor. Those small splines are not adding more design intent. But, they can cause troubles in Inventor sketch.
I suggest you use SPLINEDIT command -> Convert to Polyline in AutoCAD to convert the splines to plines. Then bring the geometry to Inventor (import or DWGunderlay).
