Inventor Pro 2019 slow and jittery on Windows 10 (1803)

Dear Forum,

I recently uprgaded my laptop to a Lenovo X1 with 8th Gen i7 8550U CPU and 16Gb Ram with Windows 10 Pro (1803). I was hoping this would make Inventor run like a charm, but the opposite is the case. Inventor Pro 2019 is now running much slower than on my 5yo Windows 7 laptop... Lagging when I drag pieces of an assembly, choppy when I click, placing constraint takes forever, just to name a few.

Is this a known issue? It's really frustrating to work this way...

Thanks!

HI @JRohwa

I would make sure to clean up your %temp% folder...

Then verify you have all of the updates installed.... 2019.1.2

Make sure you're using all of the Windows 10 drivers, like your video card...

Use a certified one before you just update to the latest...

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/certified-graphics-hardware

Try a reinstall from the control panel / with the Inventor reset Utility... maybe someone got changed in the upgrade.

To add to what Mike has said, I would also do a clean uninstall of 2019 and any previous versions that may be on the laptop.

Also, do a system defrag.  Can't hurt.

Windows 10 x64 -16GB Ram
Intel i7-6700 @ 3.41ghz
nVidia GTS 250 - 1 GB
Inventor Pro 2018

Thanks so much for the fast replies!

I installed the latest updates, to no success...

"Make sure you're using all of the Windows 10 drivers, like your video card... "

How can I check this?

@JRohwa

Everybody is putting in their 2 cents so I might as well..  Smiley LOL

In tools, application options, hardware tabwhat are your settings?  Also select the diagnostic button and once the dialog comes up, select ok..   Come here to the forums/your posting and select paste to paste the info from the diagnostic you just did.   Are you using a 3D mouse such as 3D Connexion?  Does this happen on all parts and assembly or only certain ones?   Also on Tools/Applications options/Display, what do you have for Min Frame Rate?  Have you done a Manage/Rebuild on your model?  One more thing is the design dr (red cross on quick access toolbar) enable like something is wrong with your model?

Do you know what you have for a video card and driver?

Also what build of 2019 are you on?

Build 200 and this is what I found about the graphics card:

Graphics Device Information:

Renderer:             HAL
Manufacturer:             Intel Corporation
Chip Type:             Intel(R) UHD Graphics Family
DAC Type:             Internal
Graphics HW Memory:         128 MB

Is that what you mean?

So if you're good with 2019.1.2 that's good

However, NO Intel cards are certified approved for Inventor currently.

I would review the certified hardware list for options:

While it could run on this card, it will have some issues like you're mentioning.

What is your hardware settings at for in your Application options?

I would change it to one of the lower, as it's really not a performance graphics card ... IMO.

If you have a Quadro or GTX I would pick the performance then

For your CPU you're at 1.9

From the Inventor system requirements:

CPU ¹ Recommended:
3.0 GHz or greater, 4 or more cores

Minimum:
2.5 GHz or greater
Memory Recommended:
20 GB RAM or more

Minimum:
8 GB RAM for less than 500 part assemblies

You're at the min for Ram ...

Okay thanks, I guess I'll just have to live with this...

Stange that Inventor worked better on my old Lenovo x230 with Windows 7. That only had 8Gb RAM and not 16 like my newer one...

What did you have for a Video card in it?

Windows 10 is a new beast and it's own requirements / issues in my opinion vs Windows 7.
