Inventor Change Material Of Keyway In Custom Content Center Part

Hi,

I want to change the material of a keyway which is Content Center part. I know it is read only file, but how to make it custom file as we can do with bolts, screws? The material is always Mild steel.

In general, what is best practices for using custom materials. For example, I want to use bolt material for some bolts 10.9 or 8.8. I made the files “Custom” and edited the material and iProperties. My concern is if there are going to be a problem later when I will have many custom parts during Checking in and Checking Out from Vault Professional? What is the best practice?

When you say custom file like the hardware, are you placing hardware a custom content center or you have a custom read/write content center library with the hardware info you need in it?

I place hardware a custom content center files. Then I edit the material.

But I don't know is it a appropriate way of working. And not work for Keways.

Please see the attached picture.

If you are using the keyway function under the power-transmission then it brings in the keyways as standard content center info (So I think there's no choice for custom at the point unlike when you place hardware you see that option)..   However you may be able to do the save/replace function under the assembly productivity pull-down and create a duplicate keyway that's no longer a standard content center component.   OR create your own custom read-write content center library and add keyway info to it based on your requirements.

Ok, I can make the keyway manually and edit iProperties put some standard such as DIN 6885-1. Then I will loose the engineering calculation of the keway. ... but what about engineering practice? Is that a proper way of working in Vault? Is that proper way of doing with the Bolts as well?
