Hello Inventor Nesting Experts,

 

I wish you a Merry Christmas and I hope you all will be doing good. 

 

I wanted to bring to your attention that  Inventor Nesting 2022 has a bug where it creates the Stock Thickness smaller than the Piece Thickness. For Example, I was trying to Nest this piece ( Test.ipt) , made on Inventor Professional 2022.2  and this piece has Thickness  = 15.875 mm. During the Nesting Process, Nesting will create a Stock size depending upon the Thickness of the Piece you want to Nest. In this case Stock Size Thickness should be equal to 15.875mm. But I do not know for what reason Nesting utility is creating the Stock Size Thickness equal to 15.865 mm. I know this is not a big difference at all. I know we can edit this one under Stock by editing the Stock extrude under Model Browser in Nesting Mode. This is a big problem for us where We have say 40 Nesting Sheets. We need to edit all the sheets one by one.

Hello @Gurpreet.Badwall .

The 0.01mm difference in stock size is by design, so it is not a bug.

 

For the 2D profile operation, there is the ability to select multiple contours of a part by selecting the body's face.  Using the 'same plane faces' option you can select all the contours of all the parts at once.  (In Fusion this can also be turned on for the 2D contour operation.)  The 0.01mm difference in thickness is there to prevent same plane faces from selecting the contour of the stock body.

 

Exactly what problem happens if you leave the stock undersize by 0.01mm?
