Inventor gives error when trying to make LOD of view rep with " symbol. Normal?

Hey all,

Just a quick question about the representations functions in assemblies.

I am creating a part with two different sized brackets, and I have found that I can use the " symbol in the View tree, but not in the LOD tree. Is this an expected behavior? or is something funky going on?

If this behavior is expected, why are we able to use the " symbol in the view tree but not the LOD tree? It seems that if you can use it in the view tree, it shouldn't be an issue also using it in the LOD tree, since LODs are able to be made from view reps.

Attached, I have a video of this behavior.

Regards,

Kristin

Hi! I believe it is more about the browser name than about the LOD node. It looks like the special character is rejected during cloning operation. It could be a bug or a limitation. I would anticipate the same name should not be allowed to name a LOD to begin with.

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

LOD's are allowed to be the same name as the view rep, that is the point of the "copy to level of detail" option when right clicking your view. As you can see in the video, when I used IN instead of the " symbol, it had no issue to copy to level of detail. If the " symbol is not allowed within the LOD then why is it accepted in the view rep naming?

Cheers,
