Inventor Crashes when Loading from Thumbnail

There is a large assembly file I've tried to open repeatedly in the last two days.  I tried to load it from the thumbnail 3 times, and it crashed every time.  I tried to load it from the "open" button twice, and it loaded successfully both times.  When it loads from the "open" button, it tells me that it can't find certain files (FEA files), and I tell it to "skip all".  When I load it from the thumbnail, it crashes before giving me that popup.

For clarity, when I open it from the thumbnail, I mean that I click the little house button near the bottom of the screen, and then click the open button within the thumbnail of the assembly.  When I open it using the open button, I click the open button at the top left, then click on the vault button, and then enter the name of the assembly, and then double click the thumbnail that appears within the open window.

This appears to mean that opening from the thumbnail does something different than opening from the open button.  I can't imagine what/why.

There is some chance this is a coincidence.  It's been a while since I've done statistics, but I think it should go something like this.  If there were simply a 50/50 chance that the file would crash, then with 5 samples, there's only a (1/2)^5  = 1/32 chance that it would exactly match the expectation that opening with the thumbnail would cause it to crash.  If there were some other chance that it would randomly crash (the 5 data points point to 60% chance), then there would be a 0.6^3*0.4^2 ~ 1/29 chance of getting this result by accident.  So, I'm not sure that I'm doing it entirely right, but it looks to me that if the choices are random crash/thumbnail crash, it's ~97% that it's the thumbnail making it crash.

Hi! Inventor should never crash. Something is wrong. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the graphics driver is updated. Install the latest Inventor (Vault) update applicable to your release.

In the meantime, please send me an email johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to take a look at the crash report to understand the crash better.

Many thanks!

Lol, Inventor has been crashing on me a couple times a week since I started using it about 2 years ago.

If I remember, I might load from the thumbnail again next week so that I can send you a crash report.
