Inventor 2022 Default IBL problem

Hi All

Any advise please, I have updated to Inventor 2022 and I am having an issue with the default IBL with my templates. (I am quite new to this so apologies if its something obvious) 

Issue is that the Default IBL show components Black (Very Dark) within the default templates? I have compared with previous templates & the IBL default in my 2021 sheet metal template had an 'Environment tab' as attached image 001, with the lighting tab & shadows next to it, lighting set with 'no' lights on (image 002) all was fine as the part display, nice grey generic material etc... as you can see in the image.

The Default templates IBL in 2022 is missing the Environment tab? Just Lighting & Shadow tabs, with the lighting off as previously settings (image 003) parts show very dark?

When opening my older templates in 2022 I got the Style Conflict popup regarding the IBL, I have opened my sheet metal template & save the Default IBL to the style library and all seems good opening the template from 'New' until I open a different part template , expecting a style conflict because this hasn't been updated, but No it seems to reset style Library back to the 2022 default (Very Dark), going back to my sheet metal template I then get the Style conflict again?

The problem in summary is how do I get the lighting back to how it was so I can see the component material & appearance other than black / dark?

Additionally is the environments tab missing 2022 IBL style correct, part of the problem? Finally whey does my Save IBL Style from my previous template revert to showing 'Style Conflict' opening a 2022 default template.

Have you migrated your settings from 2021 to 2022?

Within a normal part, I do not see an environment tab on the default IBL but I do see that on Sheet metal.

Thanks For the update & information, yes migrated all from 2021.

I can mod the lighting to show what the components for now.

However still confused as to why I can not save to the styles editor & then update my other templates to match. all read & Wight and have Admin access to the PC.

None of the lighting have an environments tabs?, ie the Empty Lab does not show when selected, however they are their if I open my old template directly, but can not save styles as it will not stick and reverts back to the 2022.

I'm using the Default as the view options Performance / High / Render qualities switch the lighting to the Default IBL.

Thinking off a full reset to see if that helps, may save time in the long run.

Hi! If you don't like the Default IBL in 2022 and you like the old style better, you will need to push the old style back to the Style Library. Here are the steps.

1) Start up Inventor and go to Get Started -> Project.

2) In the active project, look at the lower pane -> Use Styles Library -> Read-Write.

3) Open (not start up a new) the template with the old style.

4) Go to Manage -> Styles and Standards -> Save.

The document style will be saved back to the Styles Library.

The procedure you outlined is as my understanding & I have used this to make modification with 2021 with no issues.

Within 2022 the procedure removes my lighting environment from the default templates. Once any changes have been made to any template and saved to the styles library(First Time following install), I get the attached notification along with the normal pop ups, and the operation not not be undone?

The only changes made were to a drawing IDW, unticked show tailing zero's & saved to library, then when opening 'any' New template I got a style warning regarding IBL. Opening the template directly the environments are their, but once update from style library to match (stop IBL warning on new) & all the lighting environments disappear?

Without the IBL Environment & the lights off by default all my component views are unlit and show dark as originally posted. I am aware I can turn on lights and modify as required, but where are the environments & tabs missing in lighting?

Are environments manage differently in 2022? Pop up "Migrate to current release". All was good with 2021 worked as expected following the procedure in your reply, 2022 seems to just remove the lighting environments once any changes are saved to the styles library & they don't stick if saved from my old templates?

I reloaded inventor thinking I may have messed up somewhere but exactly the same issue once any changes are made and saved to styles library.

Anu further help / advise would be appreciated.

Just to clarify it is the 'Image Based Lighting section' tab that is no longer present in any of the default lighting. I read a couple of acritical's in the help section about modifying the lighting but they seem to presume this tab is present to modify?

Hello, i have the same problem. My template file is fine (if i don't save the lighting style). But when i make a new part, wich uses the correct template, everything is black. If i update or save the ibl lighting style in the template, the template file will also be black. I also posted on the forum under the tilte 'my part is black'. I don't have a solution yet but maybe you could use some answers from peaple who replied to me.

This is not a known problem to us, and I could not reproduce it yet in my side. Could you help provide below info to us for reproducing the problems? 

1. Could you help check your system locale and Decimal Symbol from Control Panel->Region? 
2. Could you share with us your legacy part file with modified lighting style? Then we can have  a try in our side by saving the customized lighting style into style library.

Hi all,

I can reproduce this problem in my side now. There should be a bug when migrating the lighting style into Inventor 2022. We will track it and investigate how this can be mitigated for you. Will let you know when we have more findings.

I have the same problem, 

everything is black. And the other styles, like, in german called Alpen, are all without ibl. 

I can't load styles that have a picture. 

And I didn't migrate old styles or use an old template. 

But what I do yesterday is to open an old drawing to save the local styles in the styles library. But these are all drawing styles. 

Now I install Inventor on a second machine and look there for the styles in the part environment. If there it is all ok I think I deinstall and reinstall it on my main machine. 

If I  see it right, the uninstaller still no longer exists and I must uninstall it over the windows uninstaller.

So, 

I install Inventor 2022 on a second maschine and everything is fine. 

All IBL-Styles work fine. 

I think on my main maschine the ibl enviremont didn't load

Next step was to copy the templates and the styles from the working maschine to the not working maschine, and, yahhhh, everything shine good.

OK, I think I found the mistake

I edit my drawing styles and save it in the styles. I didn't use old styles or import old styles. I want save it in the 2022 default styles. 

By save Inventor told my, that the styles convert to the latest Inventor Version 

hääää, why that. I use the style that was shiped with Inventor 2022

OK, save and than, the Part tell my that there is a style conflict and all is black

All ibl-style are no longer ibl styles

Definitely a bug. Just saving to the 2022 Styles generates the Migrate to new Styles and then all the IBL environments no longer load with any lighting styles. The environment tabs just disappear leaving only the lighting and shadow tabs. 

I did a complete new install, saving to the styles generated exactly the Same issue. 

let’s hope the fix is quick and simple.

There is a little workaround that I use. 

I save all the styles after the installation from Inventor 2022. 

Than I edit my styles, ofte drawing styles and save it to the library. 

After that the lighing style is not working correcly. 

But I copy the lighting.xml from my copy to the and change the it with the lighting.xml in the Design Data that I use. 

After that everything is ok. 

I think it is a way till Autodesk fix the problem

Thanks for the update, the work around seems to resolve the issue.

I have attached a copy of the default 2022 Lighting.xml to over wright the original as your post, this will save anyone the reinstall just to get a new copy not messed up by the 'Migrate to new Styles library'

Also posted on the other post "My Parts are Black" which was reporting the same issue.

@alanrichardson , as mentioned in previous reply, you may apply this workaround in your side, using the original lighting.xml to replace the changed one from C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2022\Design Data. 

Please let me know whether it works for you. And right now, we are working on how to make a safe fix for this problem, will let you know when it is ready.
