Inventor 2020 Solid Sweep Issues

Hey all,

I recently switched to 2020 and have found I cannot sweep a profile around a derived component like I used to be able to in 2019 and 2018. I would derive a part, project the edges I planned to sweep around and be able to sweep my profile without issue. Today I tried to do this, and was getting errors about not creating meaningful results. I was able to make a new sketch of this same exact profile and create a sweep of that, however. Are there known bugs in 2020 with the sweep command? Interestingly enough, the derived sweep would work, only if it was a surface body sweep, not a solid body. (Included is a video of my derived part that fails vs. my sketch that will sweep)

Regards,

Kristin

Issue appears to be with one line that I have not figured out yet.

It is odd to me that when I created it as its own sketch it didn't have an issue with any lines, but upon projecting edges and constraining all my geometry curves to the projections on this derived part freaks the program out.

Do you think it could have issues determining the connections between the straight line it won't sweep and a coincident constraint to the projected curve?

In general - I avoid creating any extraneous workplanes and instead use the Origin Workplanes.

In the Attached file I simply redefined the sketch plane as the YZ plane.

So it seems to be an issue with where I have the workplane placed.

I typically like to have the plane placed at the edges of the part.. just personal preference for my work flow that I haven't encountered issues with before.
If 2020 doesn't like this though, I shall try using the origin planes that are already defined.

Something odd to me though, is when I created my own sketch and swept that, inventor had no problem sweeping from the plane I created. It just had an issue with my own plane in the derived component sweep.

I have always done it the way shown in my example with simple close of loop at the sweep profile.

Something about closing loop at 90° causing solver issue.

In the Attached example I trimmed a little break in the path and it would accept that line.

Hi Kristin,

This one looks like a bug to me. It should work regardless. Something is wrong. I will work with the project team to understand it better. This has been reported as INVGEN-33067.

Many thanks!
