Inventor 2018 Crashing

I have had pretty good luck with a stable Windows10 machine and a stable Inventor 2018 system.

It has been crashing a bunch today. I'm not doing anything terribly difficult or exciting. It seems random.

Running a clean install of Windows10 on a Mac via Parallels. There is nothing else on this VM.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks,

John

@Anonymous

Please check your Windows Event log around the time the crash occurred.

Most times this points to..

1.  User temp folder needs to be cleaned out.   Clean out your personal temp (%temp%) folder

2.  Outdated graphics driver or card not supported

3.  Corrupt C++ installation on your machine, follow this article.

Or the big prize..  Recent Microsoft Window updates..  Smiley Very Happy

Thanks Mark,

I'll grab my event log next time I crash. Should be soon!

1.  User temp folder needs to be cleaned out.

I'll check that

2.  Outdated graphics driver or card not supported

I am on a MacBook Pro that is far from new., but I have been using Inventor 2016/2017/2018 for a few months without any problems until today.

3.  Corrupt C++ installation on your machine

I battled C++ on my original install. I'm not excited to do it again!

Or the big prize..  Recent Microsoft Window updates

Oh the joys...

Thanks for your input.

Hi John,

This is something surprised me as well.

Would you mind help provided more information to us for investigation?

1. Have you installed latest update for Inventor 2018?

2. What's the workflow you are working on when the crash happen?

3. There should be a *.dmp file located in '%temp%' folder and could you help upload it here? the size usually less than 3 MB.

4. Any special for you workflow compared with before? I mean is there anything unusual workflows you are working recently?

Thanks!

Xun
