There are some things that occur in Inventor that are just so preposterous...
These are the same chamfer operation:
As one can see, they don't dimension like they are the same chamfers. Why?!
I have my chamfer set up like this (likely the way all machine shops are making chamfers because you don't have to come back and break the edge, aka extra programming and thus time):
As one can see, that completely destroys the way the Chamfer Dimension tool is supposed to work in the idw file. The blended option allows me to affix the correct chamfer dimension. Why?!
Why is Inventor not programmed to know that is an entire chamfer edge (not half, which is SO silly), and just grab that?
It's doesn't seem like the Chamfer Dimension Tool is actually linked to anything chamfer-wise from the ipt file. It seems like the chamfer tool is just a hack for dimensioning chamfers from angled lines on the print. It would be an improvement to just have the print recognize the Chamfer features from the ipt file when the views are dropped in, and just have them ready to define whenever the Chamfer Dimension Tool is used.
