Inventor 2016 - Flat pattern goes crooked

Hello all,

I recently upgraded to 2016 and I've been working with sheet metal parts. The past 2 projects I've worked on, when I try to create a flat pattern. The flat pattern is crooked. I've tried changing 'define A side', deleting and recreating. Even when I place it into a drawing it comes into the draiwng crooked. I end up rotating it on the angle it's crooked on. I've had 2 different part files do this and both time is was a different angle. Please help!

Thank you.

Attach *.ipt file here that exhibits this behavior.

Are you familiar with right clicking the flat and setting the orientation to whatever you need?

Hello,

Attached is the part. I have never needed to change the orientation. It's never rotated before when I created the flat pattern.

Thank you

Do a rebuild all
Extrusion 2 fails, probably because you used a patterned sketch instead of patterning the feature.
Fix Extrusion 2, delete the flat pattern and recreate it
All is now good

Here are a couple of tricks -

1. I would model using Sheet Metal tools (see attached file).

2. I would place all sketches on Origin planes rather than part faces if possible and practical.

3. You can right click on the Flat Pattern in the browser and Edit Definition (see image).

And the easy tip (in this case)

4. Create your Flat Pattern before adding the cuts or simply drag the End of Folded above the cuts, create Flat Pattern and then drag back down.
