Hello,
We have Inventor 2013 running on two machines. They were installed at the same time and have been used concurrently since installing. Recently, one of the machines no longer gives a file status option in the browser. The second machine does and still allows us to check in and out files. We need that capability back on both machines.
We are currently running Stand-Alone installs on both machines and accessing files through a standard Windows server on a shared drive. We do not use the vault. All of this has been working perfectly for a couple of years, until recently.
Hoping someone might have a clue what is going on and how I can get the File Status to show back up. We have tried looking through menu options and the like and it doesn't appear that there are changes but it's possible we missed something. It kind of appears to have happened when a previous engineer was here but I can't absolutely pinpoint it to that time.
Thanks,
Don

Welcome to the community..
It sounds like the working machine is using legacy Inventor project types and the other machine is not. Can you check the Inventor Project type between the 2 machines.

I'm not sure where the screenshot for the top graphic is located but I have check the Legacy checkbox. It was not checked on either machine previously but now is.
Thanks,
Don

You never indicated what project type is being used between the 2 machines. Single User, Vault, etc..

Also can you provide a screen shot showing what you mean by file status in the browser. Don't want to assume one thing and you mean something else.

Select Get Started/Projects and bring up the project editor.. The active/selected project will indicate the type

I was confused with that too...
I thought "File Status/Check-In/Check-Out" was only if you were using Vault..
One of the legacy Inventor project types (thinking semi-isolated master project) allows you to have check in/out status
Update: But in my opinion these legacy project files should not be used anymore and the OP should just implement a free Vault Basic infrastructure on a PC. But at the same time there are using a retied/unsupported product.

Mark,
Here are two screenshots, one from each machine. The first shows the File Status available and the second shows no option for it. If we can get the file status, we can check in, check out files as needed. As I mentioned earlier, we are not using the vault, only using file sharing on two stand alone installations.
Thanks,
Don

You still haven't provided what Inventor project type is active one machine compared to the other. Most likely the one machine is using a legacy project type and the other has it set to a single user.

Mark,
That seems to be the issue. I'm trying to get both machines set the same. Will get back on Monday with the outcome!
Thanks for all your help!
