Interaction with LabVIEW

Dear Autodesk team,

I am working on a research project which involves the use of LabVIEW. Is it possible to import an 'stl' or an 'ase' assembly file made in Inventor into a LabVIEW front panel? My previous attempts have only allowed me to import parts of the assembly as separate 3D images.

Yours sincerely,

Yes Inventor is fully capable of exporting an stl file of an assembly..

Did you actually try it lately and are having problems?

If not ..try it.. and post your iam/ipt files as well as the stl file for us to investigate or show you how..

Also please state the version of Inventor you are using..

Dear mcgyvr,

Thank you for your reply. I had no problem exporting the assembly file as an 'stl' with Inventor, however, LabVIEW did not read it. I am using the 2018 version. Will send you the files shortly.

Sounds like you should be posting your question on a LabView forum then... 😉

Hello @Anonymous I see that you are visiting as a new member to the Inventor Forum.
Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

You can load only ASCII STL files in LabVIEW. Some CAD programs save STL files as binary STL files by default.

You might have better luck over here at the LabVIEW location like @mcgyvr states:

Hello @Anonymous were you able to open your stp file to open in LabVIEW with that setting?

Dear kelly.young,

My apologies for the late reply. The issue has been resolved and was LabVIEW related, as I should have been using a different function for an assembly. Thank you very much for your support.

Yours sincerely,
