Import STEP files and lose right click bug?

After I import a non Inventor file type into the .iam assembly model, I lose right click options.

This is the procedure I'm following and its super repeatable.

1. Open a .iam assembly model with some existing files inside.

2. Save a .STEP (or .sldprt or .igs, etc.) into my working directory.

3. Drag and drop this file into the assembly model window.

4. Place a constraint on the imported file (Inventor says the file must be saved first)

5. Save the assembly.
6. Right click does not work.

5. Try a right click operation

Inventor version and update level are key pieces of information to help resolve this, I expect.
