.idw files to pdf

Hello,

My company has over 12,000 of IDW files and I need to convert those files to PDF... My idea was to print it through Foxit Reader and save them as PDF files but I don't have any software that supports IDW files, besides I tried to print with Inventor View but it only let me print one file at the time.

Any suggestions? Keep in mind that I can't use the Inventor on my station.

Thanks.

Why not use the Task Scheduler:

That's the thing, I can't use the Task Scheduler because I don't have the Inventor on my station, therefore I was wondering if there was an another existing software that could open the IDW files...

I would look at some 3rd party app's ...

However, it might be best to get a 30-day license and the run it. I'm one for using the right tools. You might not notice issues with the 3rd party program till it's to late

IF you can't/won't install a demo of Inventor then the task needs to be performed on a computer with Inventor.. Plain and simple..

IDW is a proprietary file format and thus can only be opened by limited software choices.. Just like most computer files...

Guess you're right, I ain't got no alternative, the 3rd party programs are either not compatible with IDW files or just shady money milking scam. Gonna get myself the Inventor 2018 then. Thanks everyone.

If all you need is to print the files, perhaps only the Inventor Viewer 2018 would be enough? Perhaps it is available for download at a lesser price than the actual inventor CAD suite? EDIT: it seems that Inventor viewer 2018 is free from Autodesk.

Another argument for the perpetual license issue.

Depending on from which side you look at it, it either good or bad.

Because a user has lost the rights to the software, he cannot access his intellectual data anymore. (Besides a viewer, which we all know is not the preferred solution) (Yes, I cannot comment on this particular case, he might have an old license, or none at all, I just used this as an example of future issues)

On the other hand, he can purchase a license at a fraction of the cost for the duration of the project, in this case, to print a heap of files.

Just putting it out there.

The best thing you can do .... (mentioned before)   Rent/ lease Inventor for a month or 2 and do it the right way.

MONTHLY

$235.00

Finding shortcuts, easy out's etc could lead you down a path of bad files etc ...

You have over 12,000 files to do ...

Depending on your pay, a couple of days of going back and forth, trying to find an easier solution vs just leasing it for a monthly, you've already spent more than what a month would have costed you.

You see, here in my company there are numerous stations with Inventor 2018 installed, the thing is that these stations are used almost 24/7, there is not a single one avaliable. Gonna get myself the Inventor 2018 on my station and get the license (our company has a contract with Autodesk so I think I'm good).

Thanks everyone!

Gotcha ...

I also don't want you to get into any trouble using one of their licenses...

I just think with 12K files, it's best to do it with IV / Task Scheduler.

If you had 10, 100, 500, fine try some of the other ways, but this is safer and the best way IMO.

Have a great rest of the day

Mike
