Hello I accidentally open a TMP. file on to Explore. Now my drawing and part can't save. everytime I saw the part file i get this message " Cannot give a document the same name as an open document (or a document that is referenced by an open document, e.g. a part/assembly referenced by a drawing). Enter a different name for the document you want to save." I need help.

Here what is looks like

Can you close the TMP file?

You have other files opened in Inventor?

You need to reassociate AutoCAD or Inventor with the dwg extension. After you select 'Choose another app', make sure that you check the box to 'Always use this app' and then select the desired application.

In Windows File Explorer, you need to unhide the file extension.

In Windows 11, you'll find that function here:

01.jpg

Now locate the problem file.

You will see the last part of the file name reads ....PRINT NEW.9780.dwg.tmp

Rename the file by deleting the .tmp extension.

The drawing (assuming it is a drawing!) should now open with AutoCAD.
