How to modify dimensional auto flip properties

Hello,

I am trying to figure out if inventor does allow manual setting of auto flip properties of linear dimensions. I have been able to figure out that the arrow will only auto flip inside if the gap between the two arrows equals or exceeds 1/3 of the total distance between extension lines. I would like to have set manually to a value less than 1/3. Anyone that has dealt with this before please help.

Hello @GORDONMABIYA,

So how about the alternative solution like to modify the arrow since a little smaller?

Hope it helps!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply but was hoping that there was a way to modify the gap itself without changing the size of the arrowheads. It would have been really helpful to have this as a modifiable property in our department since this is one draughtsmanship element over which we obsess.

Hello,

Totally understood.

However, it seems no option to control the setting so far.

Thanks!

Hi Gordon,

This is a functional request that we would have to consider like any other.  The tool we use to help prioritize these kinds or requests is the Inventor Idea Station.

There is a similar request along these lines already here:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/auto-flip-arrowheads-inside-outside/idi-p/4378367

You could add comments and upvotes there or create a new topic.

I find this comment very curious:

"since this is one draughtsmanship element over which we obsess"

May I ask why?  Before we execute on user requests, we do our best to understand the fundamental problem.  If you had this kind of control, what problem would it solve?

Thanks,

-Andrew
