Inventor Font size, use text length for a driven dimension

Hello everybody,

have there a tricky problem. Maybe this question should also be sorted under ideas forum, I can not find anything on the Web.

Description of the problem: In the drawing header I have fields with text which should be scaled individually on drawings. It would be important that at a change in height, the text remains reasonably clean in the middle of the field. It would be nice if the text would be centered, for example.

Thought problem solution: Give the text dimensions which then capture the letter size and text length. Problem : Unfortunately you can not dimension a text box or lettering. Does somebody has any idea?

See sketch with example dimensioning ...

Ever thank you for reading !!!

 Kind regards

Hallo zusammen,

Hi @Anonymous,

How about geometry text? Draw a straight line and the text is snap the line, you can add dimension for the line for position control. However, the text size is still controlled by font size.

You can also add position dimension for normal text by adding dimension for the text coordinate point.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for your answer. Somehow, I goofed up with the languages it seems like....

to the point: Yes, that is a good "part" solution to my problem. The only thing (which I didn't mention before) is, that I already have the text fields filled out (old company header). So for this solution (which at least gives you something like a text length (though predefined)) I would have to replace every entry. The other problem I have when I tried this: all my text is underlined.-/ . I guess there is a setting somewhere to make lines invisible in a sketch, but I haven’t found it jet...

Hello @Anonymous you can turn on and dimension by RMB > Text Box.

TextBox.png

Within Format Text you can set Single Line Text and Fit Text to control the width value easier.
