How to model a nautilus shape in Inventor

Does anyone know a way to accomplish the Nautilus shape or Fibonacci shell in Inventor?

I've attempted a few ways without success. The Fibonacci geometry is actually a series of progressively larger arcs. This is ok but I'd prefer a more elegant solution that uses a spiral spline to drive the shape.

Any ideas?

What version of Inventor are you running?

See attached for the 2nd attempt (not as bad as the 1st)

 

I actually incorporated an idea of yours from a previous post about creating a spiral feature on a sphere 🙂

Getting curve right might be a challenge.

You need to use equation curve for that.

@salariua your model was made with 2017, your signature states your using 2015...

(tried to open your model in 2016, in vain)

Some years ago I've been playing around with these surfaces in Rhino.

Inventor only can do 3D Math curves, but Rhino can do 3D Math surfaces, too.

 

Derived part of an imported Rhino file is attached (2011 IPT)

This is all very helpful!.

Thanks for the input.

I had a couple solutions for the 2d curve already.

The tough part was coming up with a loft/sweep that would match the curve.

I will have to play around with it next week.

 

Possibly using TheCADWhisperer's sweep along with salariua's equation curve I can get something that matches.

 

Or, maybe it's just better in rhino, like wh says...
