How to import 2002 AutoDesk Mechanical drawings into Inventor 2015

I have drawings that have been done in AutoDesk Mechanical 2002 that i am unable to open in any other "updated" program. We are currently running the 2002 on a virtual server and need to update, but have to figure out how to use the existing drawings as a start to using the 3D if available or the 2D.

Any suggestions?

The files you are referring to, were they created with "AutoCAD Mechanical" or "Mechanical Desktop" (aka MDT) as there is no "Autodesk Mechanical"?

If you have MDT 2002 files, depending on which version of Inventor are you using you might be able to successfully open MDT part files, not assy files;

Nice one HTH, I always had to install the latest mechanical desktop (discontinued now) to be able to import 3d parts in Inventor.

Tks

hehe, "HTH" = Hope This Helps

There is some bug or something with the assy files, I'm aware someone from Adesk was looking into it, never heard any results though.
