How to emboss a part at the assembly level?

Is there a way of "embossing" a part at he Assembly level?

I have a series of parts that get pressed together and share a common base part, but instead of setting up 3-4 different base part numbers for what is actually the same part... which is how I would normally handle this, so I could "emboss" at the part level to show the laser etching, I really need to be able to do this at the assembly level.

I know I can just "extrude" the text, but that doesn't give me the option to wrap to face... these happen to be round parts.

Not having emboss capabilities at the assembly level seems like a short coming, since many manufactures make, stencil and etch parts "after" assembly or weldment.Etching-01.PNGEtching-02.PNG

Hi Chris,

Long time no see! How are you doing? I agree it would be great to have Emboss or Etching at assembly level. But, unfortunately, it is not yet available.

The only thing I can offer is to create the text sketches in assembly. They are not wrapped on the cylinder. but you can place them in different sketch planes so they kind of look like wrapping. Also, you can right-click on the text -> Convert to Geometry so text is thinner (unlike the wide true font text).

Many thanks!

I guess, you could create a decal as a part for the etching. Not really proper but it would show up at the assembly level.
