We have cabs that are painted orange on the outside but the inside is painted with a "thermo coating" to prevent sweating of exposed steel faces. I really would like to show this in the assembly as just a face color change rather than making the coating a separate part (this would be very time consuming)....any ideas?
I have included a shot of the model and roughly the same shot of the actual product to show what I'm talking about.
thanks!

You can't change the colors of individual part faces at the assembly level. You'll have to either color the faces the way you want them at the part level, or use the "separate part" method you described.
There are posts on the Idea boards already requesting this feature. If this is something you need, you may want to cast a vote for them. I suspect there are more with different wording, but I found these two in a quick look.
