How do i set all my part to mm as a default setting?

Hi, I'm transitioning from sketup to Inventor 2018 Professional and need help setting the default unit settings to mm. Every time i set the unit in Document settings to mm from inches and make a new part the, the new part sets itself back to inches which is really annoying. It also resets my iProperties such as Project, Designer, Engineer, Vendor etc

Hi! You will need to make the change in template files. There are two ways. Option 1: Find the template files based on your Project setting (default location can be found at Tools -> Application Options -> Files -> Template). Open the Standard templates and make changes there and save. Then next time, the files you create from scratch will carry the new settings.

Option 2: Go to Tools -> Application Options -> Files -> click Configure Default Templates button. You can reset the English based templates to Metric based templates. Then you can also make additional changes using Option 1.

Inventor Professional is a very powerful CAD tool. There are a lot of concepts and workflows quite different than SketchUp. I suggest you go through the tutorials shipped with Inventor or go to the following links to get better understanding. It will help you build good foundation to fully leverage the power of the tool.
