How to create a new material in Library?

I've tried searching, but I'm not even sure of the terms I should be using, so please help! Inventor 2018

What I am trying to achieve is to create timber materials (e.g. Pine, 45x90mm) that I can then use in frame generator etc. I've created a writeable library, and published a part, but I don't know how to get it to work so that when I add it to an assembly, I get the question about what length I want it.

Also, how to I get my writeable library and its contents to show up as an option in Frame Generator please?

Thanks for reading.

Creating a Material Library is an entirely different topic than what you are after.

You need to Author a shape - a Structural Shape.

BTW - A shape can be any material and a material can be any shape.

If you wanted to create a Material Library - you could do that too.

A huge vote of thanks too to John ( jhackney1972 ) who pm'd me a video he made specifically in reply to my question, in which he walked me through the whole process. A really generous response. Thanks again John.
