how can you get translated parts to export out?

i've got a step file that i translated into Inventor--surface data, i
overlaid the data over some parts i drew and i am trying to export the assy
out to the cnc shop but no matter what i do i can't seem to get the surface
data to go with it... Can inventor import data in but not send it back out?

AFAIK IV can only export its brep data (solids information).

Hi, Brian.

I think the only protocol that IV will export open surfaces with is .sat. Go
figure.
