Home Tab Black Screen

Guys,

I have issue with Inventor 2021.
When I start the program it opens with home tab as black screen.

I need to start new part and then switch back to home tab for it to be "normal" again.
Please advise how to solve this.

Another "workaround" is to minimize and then maximize the Inventor window...
Don't ask why i know this....

Hoping IV2023 doesn't have this problem, although the feedback on the new Home screen isn't great either...
(wow, didn't expect myself to be this pessimistic about the home screen)

Hello @AIR_123 ,  I also had this issue with the home screen in v2021.  I found the absolute fastest way is to simply tap the home button on the ribbon.  This action is one click and causes the screen to repaint.  You'll notice that before you do that, you can hover over the small home tab in the lower left corner and see a popup of the home screen, it's there, it just needs to be repainted and that one click will do the trick; no need to open a new file.  @-niels- solution also works of course but is two clicks.  🙂  You could also grab the title bar (top) of the app, drag down into window mode then snap it back to the top of your screen.  I've moved on to v2022 but still have 2021 installed and it still exhibits the same behavior while v2022 does not.  Sorry it's not a fix, just another workaround.

Hi! This issue has been reported sporadically from some users. We have not yet been able to reproduce it persistently (INVGEN-51104). It could be graphics related but we are not sure. Let me cover the base first.

Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and graphics driver is updated (make sure Inventor runs on the dedicated graphics card if the machine has one). Also consider selecting Studio/CAD oriented (or default) profile in the graphics card. Avoid using Gaming profile.

Many thanks!

Thanks. Clicking on home button either on ribbon or quick access bars did not worked for me. Dragging the window and maximizing it again, did worked indeed.

Thanks John,

All prerequisites are in place. However I do not agree that such a "strict" prerequisites are required to render software properly. You have so many machines with different configurations and setups, I don't believe for those that are not follow recommendations, IV has to render black "by default". Besides, when IV was installed, such behavior was not spotted.

Hi! This is an Inventor's bug. But, the issue here is that we cannot reproduce it persistently on our machines. As a result, it is almost impossible to fix it unfortunately.

Many thanks!

Johnson, we have a few computers here that exhibit this problem. Would it help your team with their diagnostics, if I was to provide computer/installation details? Or is that not necessary?

Hi! We have heard this issue on 2022 and earlier releases but we could not reproduce it consistently. There seems to be a timing issue. We tried fixing it in prior releases but it was not successful. In theory, this issue should have been addressed on 2023. For your case, unfortunately the best workaround is to disable MyHome in the meantime.

Many thanks!

Seems that Autodesk didn't manage to solve this issue.
Inventor 2023 Home screen often just turns blank.
The solution with the home button in top works, but it is annoying to have to take that kind of sidesteps.

Never had any problems with the old home screen (2019), some kind of graphic problem?

Hi! It could be a graphics issue or user privilege issue. Somehow Inventor has trouble displaying the content in the internal browser (Home View). Try running Inventor as Admin (right-click on Inventor desktop icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Run as Admin).

Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the graphics driver is updated. Then install 2023.3.1 update.

Many thanks!

2023.3.1 here. Also updated Windows and graphic card driver.

Really annoying for our user which use the homescreen often to have an easy access to their data.

We never had the issue with 2020.

Also we cant workaround it here with minimize or some other workarounds in this topic. The only way we can fix it is closing and restarting inventor...
