Works just fine here.... you are just lucky that I had a couple moments to
recreate 3 parts and an assembly for you. See attached image and files. You
could have posted three similar parts and a basic assembly and got a much
faster response.
This is a peer to peer discussion group, so it's manned by volunteers, not
by Autodesk.
Image: In Groove Weld command, select the opposing face on the blue part (1)
in my illustration. This would be the .25 inch face edge that faces the edge
on the rectangular part marked number two.
You may open the Inventor 2009 file that I have attached an edit to groove
Weld to see the faces that I selected for face set 1 and face set 2

Sorry I can't really post the assembly, but I can post you the pictures.
Notice, how when I select both faces, there is no preview and I cannot
select OK or APPLY, they are grayed out. Also, when I select "full face
weld" it shows a preview but it is not what I want.
