Grayed out symbol or block- unable to edit

This  drawing was done by others no longer with the company. The dimensions in red are in actuality all gray and all highlight red when trying to select. I can right click them and delete all- but I cannot edit them in any other way- and cannot even find them in the tree. How can I make them active to edit them?

Thats strange - as though someone locked any edits to the existing dimensions. Can you upload your drawing + model files or post a bigger picture of the entire drawing sheet showing browser? Did you open it in defer mode (without model). Even if you did, you should be able to edit dimensions in defer mode as long as they are dimensions created in the drawing. 

Please provide version of Inventor as well.

Hi Robert,

Try something real quick. Open the assembly or the part. Go to Manage -> Rebuild All. Go back to the drawing. Does it work now? If not, please share the files here or send them to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I can take a look to understand the behavior better.
