Free move

I am using Inventor 2021. In previous releases and up until today I could move a non constrained component in and assembly just by clicking on it with my mouse and moving the mouse cursor. The part would move along with it. All of a sudden it does not behave that way, I now have to right click and select "free move" to move it. Not a big deal, but it is another couple steps I have to take to move a part around. Is there some setting I inadvertently changed to cause this behavior? Thanks.

Should still work I think.

Doesn't work if you have a red cross error at the top or if it's constrained of course.

Is the part grounded? (pin icon over its part icon in the model browser?) Right click on it and uncheck "grounded"..

If not..

You sure its not constrained to something?

Tried restarting Inventor?

Run Inventor Reset Utility?

Any failed constraints showing in the Relationships folder?

Something else I sometimes do is I work through the constraints suppressing them until I find the one that's stopping it from moving. Bit laborious though!

I guess Inventor just got "confused". When I quit the session and started a new one everything worked normally. Thank you for the help.

If "Show Sick" button appears , you can't move any part even if it was unconstraineds too.I think it is some bug. Delete sick reletionships and try again.Capture.JPG

I just loaded 2023 and have the same issue.  The part goes full constrained when I only apply one.  I rebooted and yadda, yadda.  Any other ideas?

Can you share the assembly?

Pretty simple - no parts.

Didn't we go through this 10 years ago?

Zip all of the files inclined the *.ipt part files.

Sorry, brain fart.  I haven't used Inventor in a couple years.  See Pack and Go Zip.

@dstrayer

Install Update 1.1

I think you are seeing a bug associated with Component Pattern that was resolved with the Update.
