Filtering a part list using filtering the main assembly and View representation.

Hello,

I'm trying to streamline my work a bit. I always have 2 part lists. One showing all the things that need cutting (like beams ect) and the other one showing all the sheet metal parts.

Right now I make a part list and go in to switch off all the sheet metal parts and then again make one more and switch off all the not sheet metal parts.

After searching and reading a lot here I used a filter in the main assy to make 2 view representations. One showing all the sheet metal parts and the other the rest. I can now use this in my part lists. So far so good. Now my question.

Is there any way do this automatically with a rule?

step 1. switch to view 1, run search 1, make everything selected invisible.

step 2, switch to view 2, run search 2, make everything selected invisible.

(all sheet metal parts have the word "sheet" in the description field to be able to select them).

All help is welcome. Even other methods :-).

Included a screen shot of my 2 lists (in norwegian, sorry about that).

Merry christmas,

Toon

Hi!

You can do that.... or most of that, with iLogic rules.

Post this thread in Inventor customization to get help about this.

Hello,

Can you not just apply a filter to your parts list so that it only shows the certain view rep?

Hello Lewis,

I do that now but was wondering if it was possible to make it a bit easier to select and make those 2 views in the main assembly.
