Fillets and lofting question

I ave a part that is very close to done, but there are some features that are not as perfect as I would like yet.  I have tried many things, but am stuck, and would appreciate any advice you have.  Thanks!

1) How can I make a "smoother" surface between the ring and the rectangle?  I have tried filleting, drafting, to no avail.

2) The J-shaped part was created with a loft.  How can I get the parts to look closer to perpendicular as seen below?  Thanks!

Have a look at this idea. I remove some material from the circular extrusion and then use a loft to blend it.

Thank you.  That is very helpful.  Do you have any thoughts about the second question?

1)  You need to bridge the gap between those two bodies before you can use fillet.  Try using direct edit to push the squared off face up a little higher into the ring, then try filleting again.

2)  Create guide curves and use them to control the transition of the shape.  Ask google how to do both of these, there should be alot of information available.

Hi! Another approach is to model the geometry as the part was made. For this case, I believe the part was originally straight and then bent. You can model the part in straight (unbent form). Then use Bend Part feature to bend it in the middle. I don't believe Loft has a role to play here.

Many thanks!
