FEA to demonstrate penetration

Hi All,

    I need to look at software/application that demonstrates penetration of object hitting the surface within Autodesk. I found few samples on Fusion 360 but want to check if there is any other software within Autodesk which can demonstrate the same ? Fusion 360 is available along with license. NASTRAN CAD is another one. Do I need to get separate licence / purchase ? Can you suggest few. 

         I find constraints and load applied in same way in Fusion 360 as in Inventor static analysis. What are other features or how different is Fusion 360 to standard inventor ? Is this question for fusion 360 forum? 

Please help so I can put word forward and get some training.

Hi Yash,

I thought you asked this question before. If you subscribe to Product Design and Manufacturing Collection, you have access to Inventor NASTRAN (capable of nonlinear stress analysis and others) and Fusion 360, where you can use Fusion Simulation.

Hi Johnson,

  Yes I did but that was in different context. That time I wanted to solve problem on hand and checking if Inventor can do,  this time I want to know which other products can simulate the same. I am looking for purchasing so want to know which one will suit. Fusion 360, I already have with sample projects and simulation. Not sure it has full functionality. See the screenshot and let me know. If I decide to go with Fusion 360, do I need to buy et al ?

I am not aware of a way to simulate impacts like shown in your video with Inventor Nastran.  If that is critical functionality, you will need Fusion 360 or a non-Autodesk FEA code.  See the discussion here, especially comments 5 through 7: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/nastran-in-cad-forum/modeling-material-removal/m-p/7895280

What do you mean by "full functionality"?  Both Fusion 360 and Inventor have strengths and weaknesses.  Either package could be considered fully functional for different uses.  Please expand on the tasks you need to perform.

Hi Walton,

   What I mean by full functionality is, whether its ultimate or not. From screenshot attached are there any functions missing that will stop me from carrying out the simulation. that's what I mean full functionality. If I look in about, will it tell me if its ultimate fusion or standard ?
