Extrude a bitmap?

I have a logo / silhouette that needs cut into a sheetmetal part. Can I
import this into a sketch and extrude it, or do I have to sketch around it?
I would like to know if it worked like type does, that works nice.
Also, can you create type on an arc?

If not too complex you can bring your logo bmp in as a decal and trace
around it with a sketch, Otherwise do a google search for "raster to vector"
there a quite a few various pieces of software that will convert bmp to dxf,
the file will prob need a lot of clean up.

For the arced text check out the 3D text tool from www.cbliss.com

To use the decal tool I believe you have to have a solid to start with. You could make a
very thin extrusion the size of the logo, and then add the bmp

Also there is some raster to vector programs like wintopo http://www.wintopo.com/ that
output a DXF file. Someone posted that they liked some other brand better, but I don't
remember what it was. If you do a search of the groups for Wintopo you will probably find
the thread.

I'll download the 3d text tool and I already have the wintopo, haven't had
much luck with that. too much cleanup work, just as well start from scratch.
Thanks
