Hi,
I searched the forums and external sites but couldn't quite find a similar issue posted anywhere.
Here is a brief explanation of the issue i'm facing.
My work mostly consist of modelling 2D contours used in CNC machining (basically only using lines and arcs).
I model the 2D contours in an .ipt sketch, and then export it as .dxf.
This would be fine and all if i wanted to directly import the .dxf into my CAM-system and start working on the CNC bit.
The problem i'm facing is that i first need to import the .dxf file into another 3rd party software in order to do some calculations and modifications to the 2D shape. This extra software is unable to read joined segments and this extra step is crucial in my design process so i can't really skip it.
As a result, i'm now having to import the .dxf file into my CAM-system only to explode the joined segments before i'm able to run it through my calculating software. This extra step is a bit annoying.
My question is if there is an option/setting to export a sketch as .dxf without having all the segments joined?
Alternatively, is there a different method of modelling the original 2D shape in order to achieve the same result?
Thanks in advance,
/Dennis
