Hello,

I would like export Inventor files .iam to IFC.

How is it possible ?

When I try it, using the built in BIM Exchange > Export Building Components, I have each time a message "operation failed".

I don't understand the reason why.

Regards

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

Inventor version and what updates have you applied to Inventor?

Does the operation only fail on this model or others as well?

Hi! First thing to check is the compatible Revit Interop is installed. Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Revit Interop 20xx.

Second, try to export it to .adsk. Does it work? If it does not, it means the BIM Export does not work at all.

Lastly, create a simple assembly and export it to IFC. Does it work?

Many thanks!

Hi,

I would like to join this discussion.

I can export assembly file in ifc file extension. When I open it in BIM vision, I cannot select components of that assebly. The assembly is one part. Can anyone help me to export it ifc but as a multibody?

Thanks

Hi, the current .ifc export function combines all assembly components and export them to one single file.

The question is, is it possible to sellect the assembly components as a separate bodies?

Not possible, there is only one body in the exported .ifc file.

Hi! Are you using Inventor Pro 2019 or LT 2019? If it is former, you can go to Environment tab -> BIM Content. If it is latter, you will need to download and install Inventor Pro 2019 (trial mode/no license required) so that BIM add-in is installed.

Many thanks!

Hi

How do I add the Autodesk Revit Interoperability for Inventor to Inventor Pro 2016?

Hi! For Inventor Pro, it should be installed by default. If you don't have it, simply run Inventor 2016 Setup again. You should be able to add the Add-In.

Many thanks!

Hi,

I have the same problem and to my knowledge, the option for a multibody IFC export has not been added.

Do you know if there is any workaround, using Revit or Autocad, to achieve a multibody IFC with the iProperties of each part accessible through the IFC?

Thank you.
