I have not seen anyone here that uses it, or at the very least, have said they used it.  The reviews seem to be positive about it though.

A lot of people give them flak, but I use a trackball.  I use THIS ONE in particular and love it. It does take some time to get use to, but I won't go back to the normal mouse, I like this too much.  I've also converted a few where I work to do the same. They all had wrist pain before.

I also use a SpaceMouse in the left hand for pan/orbit/zoom functions.  Love that as well.

"Standard" mouse leaves much to the imagination. I use the CadMouse from 3dConnexion along with there SpacePilot Pro. This mouse finally replaced my old Logitech MX Revolution mouse.

@blair, Are you saying I need to upgrade?

@Anonymous if you don't get any direct feedback, have a look at this link for some mentions of the mouse you're asking about in other Autodesk product forums:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

My next-cubicle neighbor uses one, and it works well for him, dealing with serious RSI (repetitive stress injury).

I have tried the evoluent mouse and found it harder to work with. It was hard to get a firm grip (kind of slip out of hand) and the fact that you hold the mouse high above the table it decreased my precision to move it around. Bear in mind that I have ALL my mouses (mices) set to maximum speed so I can be on both screens fast with as little movement as possible.

I do have a trackball similar to yours Aaron but it's the Logitech M570. It's faster for work in general except for AutoCAD.

Nothing beats the regular mouse for AutoCAD from a speed point of view, especially with the 2 thumb buttons set to Enter and Escape. I have always used 3 fingers on the mouse: Index finger on click, middle on wheel, ring finger on right click ...etc. For AutoCAD stuff I still use the Roccat Kone XTD, just for speed (I do a lot of P&ID's)

I have a palm type of grip and so I love a large mouse but the down size of the M570 trackball (any trackball for that matter) is that they need cleaning up ALL THE TIME. Smallest dust particle makes the pointer jump and hard to work with. I have been searching everywhere and can't find a trackball with pad instead of ball (trackpad?, touchball? padball? 🙂 ), that way I don't need to clean it all the time. I was hopping that the tactile pad (tactile ball) would solve the problem.

The CAD Mouse from 3dConnexion didn't inspire me but that's just me (read my comments here on design and motion).

Home I use a Logitech G602 mouse but there are some good clones on Amazon now, a lot cheaper too (wish I knew that earlier).

Here are my stats on mouse usage: In about 5 hours of design time, I can squeeze out of a normal day, I get around ~5000 clicks and ~3500 scrolls.

@Anonymous: where about are you located? maybe I can get one of my colleagues to send you a second hand one for review. I bet there's one that they don't use sitting around here somewhere.

I've used the same unit for 7-8 years.  I like it.  Plan to spend some time adjusting your mouse habits to the different layout.

I also use a SpacePilot with lots of programmable buttons.

Added Bonus: No one else likes run my computer. Smiley Wink

have you tried something simple first like a wrist pad specifically for use with a mouse?

It elevates the wrist slightly to put it back into natural alignment.. (works great for me.. and its a nice "stress ball" too)

I run one like this..

and love my level 10M gaming mouse..(its got friggin BMW suspension/adjustable angles,etc...)

The one thing I can't adjust on all my devices is the position of the wheel. I have a rather long fingers and panning and clicking with the wheel it's really painfull.

Can you adjust the position of the wheel on the 10M?

No but the left/right buttons are almost 2" long and the wheel is centered on that so there is plenty of "range" there..

A mouse with a dedicated middle button (not using the mouse wheel) might be a help.  That would eliminate clicking on the wheel, you would only need to zoom with it.  Training yourself to use a different finger on the wheel might help too.  I can reach the mouse wheel with either my 1st or 2nd finger on my VM2.  My 2nd finger stays on the middle button.

Add a 3d controller for zoom/pan, and you don't need to touch the wheel at all.

I use an Evoluent vertical mouse.  I love it.  I've been using it for 6 years or so.  The angle of your wrist helps with carpel.  Also, I dedicate the middle button to middle click, right button (ring finger) to right click.  This helps a lot.  Middle clicking on the wheel gets old and on many mice, it take more force.
