Error while trying to direct edit imported step file

Hi there,

I am working on a project that was native to Solidworks. It was converted for me into .stp, but I also have the .sldprt. I have imported directly from the .sldprt, tried a 3rd party conversion software to convert from .sldprt to .stp, and I have imported the provided .stp.

Every time I try and direct edit the part, I get an error. "The attempted face operation did not provide a meaningful result". I have also gotten an error when attempting to delete faces. Is there anything short of remodeling that I can do to work on this part in Inventor?

I have attached the 2 original and the converted file for reference. I will include this was designed in China just in case there is a language error possibility.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! The part body checks fine. I suspect the small radii (fillets) might cause some problems. Please show us where exactly you want to perform Direct Edit at.

Many thanks!

The fillets definitely cause the problems. I tried deleting the fillet with delete face and heal, but that also gave me an error. Until I tried deleting the loop of fillets. Then it worked and the subsequent direct edit worked.

Thanks for leading me to the solution!
