Error in dwg creating and export from Inventor 2020

Hi,

I am trying to export a part view from Inventor 2020 to Autocad 2020 via a dwg sheet. I did that without issue in the past (different installation, change of computer since)

When I open the file in Autocad I receive the "Drawing file is not valid" error. I am unsure why so but I have suspicion it is because of Inventor when producing the dwg.

Any idea how to solve this (I have tried the unable/enable dwg translator, but changing the status isn't an option for me it seems)

... please attach pictures + sketches and models + drawings (pack the models per pack and go + zip), create samples for sensitive data (or please create a screencast), thank you.

@ArkadNaisir  Can you please attach the Inventor Drawing of that part. It didn't come through in the pack and go.

Here is the file but I don't use that format, I produce dwg directly.

??? Do you mean you use/create Inventor DWG files?

If so thats fine. Please attach that file as it didn't come through in the original pack and go.

The dwg file in the pack and go seems to be an Autocad dwg (not an Inventor dwg file) and its corrupt in some way..

The DWG in the zip is the inventor DWG I tried to open with AutoCAD.

@mcgyvr Here is a new fresh version of the inventor dwg I produce, before I try to open it with Autocad.

@ArkadNaisir  It keeps saying its a non-Inventor dwg file for me and trying to open/import via the standard.dwg template..

I don't use the Inventor DWG format so I may be doing something wrong as I'm not aware of its limitations,etc...

Me either. Would reinstalling from scratch Inventor be of any use?

Hi! The dwg file is corrupted. I cracked open. It does seem like it was either exported or saved by Inventor. But, some critical information was missing. I cannot explain the behavior. Also the file size does not make sense. It should not be this small.

Do you know how the file was saved? Could you reproduce it? Do you use any type of encryption tool?

Many thanks!

Here is a video of exactly my step (sometimes I also move the view in model space for autocad)

Hi! There is nothing wrong with workflow. Are you saying the file gets corrupted after you saved? It looks like you have quite a few templates. Are you using custom templates? Have the templates been migrated? Also, has the \Design Data\ (styles library) been migrated to 2020?

Many thanks!

From what I know, the templates are the default Metric templates (I would like to have a custom template, but it is an other issue)

I am suggesting that the act of saving corrupts it, since everything before seems fine.

Coming back to a previous post, should I simply reinstall the whole thing?

Hi! I don't think the install was an issue. I don't understand why the file becomes corrupted on save. Please share the ipt file also. If you use idw, does it work?

A few things to try but I am not sure if it would help. Go to %temp% and clean up files there. Use Inventor Reset Utility to reset all settings (All Programs -> Autodesk -> Inventor 2020 -> Tools).

Have you installed 2020.2 update?

Many thanks!

Hi, here is the .ipt file, I will try the temp removal. Where should the folder normally be?

Hi! Did you save it to a local drive or a Google drive? Are you experiencing other file type corruption?

Many thanks!
