Edit Sketch Patterns

Hi there,

As far as I can see, as earlier discussed, the advise is to do not use Patterns in a sketch because with Edit Pattern you can't change the patterned entities or their direction.

Is this still the case in IV2021?

For example, to learn from it, see attached picture of a simple sheet metal based step provided with a non slip pattern based on 'pushed up holes'.

What should be the Inventor approach for a solid parametric design with control of the pushed up hole pattern?

Could you please point me a little more in the right direction?

Coming from SW I would use a Fill Pattern for this, is there an Inventor equivalent?

The push up hole is created with a cut and revolve, how can I create the second line of holes in between or angled relative to the first line of holes and keep it parametrically under control?

Its true you can't change the entities in a sketch pattern but you can change the direction and number. While the direction is greyed out if you make the spacing dimension driven you can simply drag the pattern across to the other side. Click driving dimension and you are done.

With staggered patterns you could consider a sketch driven pattern: 

This doesn't lay out the geometry only the instance locations from points in a sketch.

Delete Face does the trick, I hadn't thought of it myself so quickly.

I see is a delicate process to deselect faces once the where selected, you better start over again.
