I want to create detail drawing of a handwheel. However whan I create a aligned section, I am unable to edit the cutting plane. Please see the file attached. The cutting plane should cut throught the center of sproke of the handwheel.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. It is not like that. I want the aligned section, but the slanting cutting line cannot be constrained at the center of spoket. My question is how to constrain the slanting cutting line to the center of spoket?

Best Regards

Open the sketch containing the section line, use the project geometry in the sketch edit tools to project the center point and use that point for your cut line segments.

Start with the vertical line from the bottom up to the projected center point of the outside of the rim, then continue the line out at your angle. You will most likely have to add an angular dimension of 120 deg from the lower vertical to angled line for the proper section.

The center point of the wheel is projected with the sketch, this is why you see Yellow over the black lines of the wheel circles. I have deleted a couple of the projected lines just to clean up the sketch and verify they are projecting their center point.

I then did the section lines nowhere near the center point, then dragged the end point to the center point. Then moving the lower line until it became constrained Vertically. I then added the 120 deg dim to position the upper angled line to be centered on the wheel spoke.

You may want to use the "Projected" Option when you do this to get the view with the upper portion at the angle.

Dear Blair

I cannot project anything when I edit the cutting plane (Project Geometry is grey out). Also I cannot pick any line when I tried to dimension during edit the cutting plane. Please see the screen shot. I remembered in older vision, I can edit the cutting line by project geometry and dimension the angle. But there is no such ability in 2016 version.

I know already. I should open the sketch from the browser. I should not edit the cutting line from right click the cutting line in the graphic window.

Thanks
