Draw a cutout on cylindrical surface

It is needed draw a cutout on cylindrical surface along  and width of yellow circles, I tried spline commands, but only managed to draw center of the circles connection splines. Additionally the splines are on drawn on surface itself.

How can I draw on the cilyndrical surface? The circles are projected.

How I can draw closed contour which connects all of the circle centers and using which I could cut out the area?

Many thanks ahead

Hi!

Curve on face:

... but, i believe is easier to draw the cutout in a 2D sketch and project all that in the cilinder.

I have a situation where the circles are defined by other part according to which I need to draw the corresponding cutout.

So there is no good solution for this? Only to draw "by hand" on curved surface?

May be just to add more projected circles in order to draw out more precise cutout?

Only with the "big picture" we can say much about this... i don't even know well what you are trying to do...

Post the files or give better info about what you really are trying to achieve...

In the 3D sketch you will find many tools that allow you to adjust the geometry to the curvature; but each is different and helps in a specific situation.
If you can, attach files and describe exactly what is required for maintenance and what you want to receive.

I am after to model a cutout path of a cylindrical surface and after extrude it as solid.

Assembly has defined 4 positions. After each one I have projected the pin contour on the surface. Now I need to merge all these projected contours into one hole cut out contour.

This assembly is just in idea state and aim is to have a lead contour which will define the movement of upper part.

PS I have updated the assembly by patterning original pin on both sides thinking that it additional projected pins would help to construct necessary cutout on sylindrical surface. The main pins are in the center.

Many thanks ahead

This video covers some other stuff for Fusion, but are you attempting to do a Solid Sweep Cut in Inventor?

I do not understand how you are determining the Path?
