Deform surface or body

Has inventor capability of deform a surface or a body like this?

I have the need of doing this for spring back compensation in my stamping tools. So I design the deformation with a simple sketch or surface, and with that simple geometry I can deform the surface of my stamping die

Hi Tiago,

The deformation can be done via Bend Part command. The following simple video shows how to create a bend part feature based on a straight bend line. The body is not limited to flat shape. It can be any shape, as long as the bend line intersects the body.

Additional non-linear deformation can be done in Freeform. You can convert faces to Freeform and then deform the Freeform faces using various Freeform commands.

Many thanks!

Hello Johnson,

Thanks by your response. Defenitly it bends the part or surface, but I didn't found how to bend or give some curvature according to a "law" sketched by the user. As far as understand this command, it only bends across a line that intersects a surface or a body. So I don't believe that this can solve my problem, Springback compensation is really more complex than a simple bend.

I agree with Johnson, Freeform might be a viable solution to what you're trying to accomplish. If you have a part you can share we might be able to see how it can be modeled.

Hello,

Here is a sample file to what I need to do.

There is a Sketch with name "Reference" that is like the surface in it's standard. And there is also a sketch "Law to insert curvature", That represents the need curvature of this surface. So this surface will be like the existing one, but with the curvature given by sketch.

Hi @Anonymous

How many years experience they have with Inventor?
I've worked with catia myself, but inventor can do that too.
Just changing the curvature quite simply over everything is not the inventor's strength.

Please show a sketch with Dimension

Sorry my english Smiley Embarassed

Hello,

Well I only have a few minutes behind Inventor. At the moment I still work with CATIA. This work, is quite easy to do in CATIA, but with the proper surface license.

I havn't with me at the moment the computer with Inventor. But I want to give a curvature of more 3mm in the center of the arc. So in the midle of the part I will have the part up 3mm, and at the extremes will be 0mm.

You can use the Bend Part feature for that task.

Later: Oh, I've seen. It's been already mentioned by Johnson.

Ok.

I will analyse that, and see if the final result is what I expect. Can you send me the modified part?
