I have been sent a file in DAT format of a seabed produced by offshore survey equipment. Is there a method for converting this data into CAD format or 3D Studio?
Isn't DAT an extension assigned sometimes by an
email program? Can you open the file in Notepad to see what the file was created
with then just rename the extension of the file to an appropriate
one?

Sounds like a data file for CNC machine. I am not aware of software to
convert it back to 3D solid.
