Cylindrical Maze

I've tried making a tangent work plane to my cylinder, sketching a maze, then using project geometry. This method just sktreches the sketch through the object and I don't know how else I would acheive this effect.

Any help is apprectiated!

Attach your *.ipt attempt here.

Are you familiar with Emboss command

or

are you familiar with 3D Sketch wrap to face?

My attempt is attached and I made the edges of the maze the correct size so that it could wrap around the circumference perfectly. And the maze is just a quick one I sketched on there so I still have to tweak the dimesions so the path width is uniform.

And I've only been using inventor for a few months now so i haven't used those tools, but am excited to learn how to use them.

Thank you.

While someone takes a look at this file -

I recommend that you download and install the Service Packs and Updates for 2014.

If you are a student - is there a reason you are not using Inventor 2017?

Yes, I use inventor 2014 because my school uses 2014 and if I used 2017 at home, it is my understanding that there would be problems opening it on a ealier version or vice versa.

OK, just checking.

You would not be able to open 2017 files at school.

But, is there a reason your school is not using Inventor 2016 (Inventor is now free to schools, I don't think it was back on 2014).

First thing I notice is that you have rounded off the circumference - I would enter as an equation the dimension variable name *PI (see image).

In the image, the top and bottom line will wrap to the same line, so I changed one of them to Construction linetype.

You are missing many many many horizontal and vertical and equal constaints and also dimensions.

You will start a 3D Sketch, select Project to Surface with the Wrap option.

The next step would be how can I extrude the walls of the maze?

Given your level of experience -

I am going to recommend that you model this in flat form and then Bend or Fold into a cylinder.
