I need to tile a surface, that has a complex geometry and area is very big. Squares (tiles) should appear in a drawing only on the face of modeled body. I don't make solids and pattern them, because it has a huge demand on performance and model becomes very slow. Is there a way to define the sketch pattern (in this case I made a block) by another sketch borders?
Note: in the picture Fig A has a texture put on, I need same result in Fig B by sketch elements. I don't use textures for my drawings because, I need lines to appear crisp and visible on a white surface of the drawing.

Can you use Split Face rather than pattern solid?
Can you do it the hard way, huge demand and poor performance - and attach that file(s) here?
Otherwise, I would use AutoCAD for 2D.
Split Face is bad, because I have to select each and every square. Split command can create only one closed surface at a time. So this command is not an option. This file I created is only for reference and has no issue in multibody creation. I have much bigger one, that has that problem.
The question still stands, if it is possible to create sketch bounded by another sketch on a surface of a plane or a body face?
(P.S. it is Autodesk Inventor question. Autocad is different. I have no problem in making tiles on Autocad myself :))

Not the way I do it. I can do many many at one time.
That is why I suggested you attach your file here (done the hard way) so that an easier technique can be demonstrated.
