Creating Custom Fonts for Inventor

I have been trying to create a new font for work using FontForge, and am having issues with the font not extruding or embossing in Inventor. It seems to have no issues if I export it to Autocad as a .DWG and import it back in as a .DXF, but that's pretty inconvenient. There are no errors when I try sketch doctor, and the font program itself doesn't show any errors when I check each letter. My company does use Inventor2018 currently, so maybe that's the issue?  Does anyone have experience with FontForge and know what I might be missing? The font file type I am using is a .ttf (True Type Font) Thanks so much!

I'm sure you don't want to post your newly created font in a public forum, but I don't know how to be helpful without having it to try.  Does it work with other applications such as MS Word (I assume so)?  It certainly looks simple enough in the image you shared.

Hi Elisabeth,

Inventor does have some issue converting certain characters in certain fonts to a usable profile. If possible, please share the custom font with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I can help take a look to see if there is a better way to leverage the font.

Many thanks!

@SBix26 It won't actually allow me to attach that file type on here for some reason. Happy to share it over email if that works for you. It works in MS Word, Adobe Illustrator,  AutoCad, and Inventor just as a font, but won't let me extrude/emboss it. I found a work around by exporting the sketch as a .dwg to AutoCad, using text explode and saving it as a .dxf and importing that into Inventor. But for the sake of where I work that adds a lot of time for design/production and we are wondering why it won't extrude just from the font like comic sans or other fonts

Hi Folks,

This is a bug in the way Inventor converts the particular font text into consumable profile. It does not seem to work in Inventor 2024 and earlier releases. Interestingly, when I try it on our internal build targeting the new release, it seems to work. It means the issue may have been addressed somehow.

Many thanks!
