Create style and standard and set it current

Hello,

I am trying to set my drawing style (text size, font, dimension, bubble size, etc....) in idw to what I would like my template drawing to be.  After making all necessary changes, I can't seem to keep my settings when I start a fresh drawing.  Can someone show me how I can keep all my settings so that every time I start a new drawing I won't have to keep going into styles editor and make these changes.  I definitely can appreciate a step by step instruction.

You need to make sure you are opening the template that Inventor is using when creating a new drawing.

You also need to make sure that you are changing the Object Defaults for the Default Standard in the Styles Editor.

You then need to save and close the template file.

Now when you start a new drawing those changes should be present.

See Screencast below.

Hello,

When you set all you .idw settings save to the templates. Then when you open that template, all your settings will be there.

I have attached a screenshot of where my templates are saved to.

Also in the 2nd screenshot, you can see where your templates will be saved to.

Hope this helps?

Thomas.

Thank you for the quick responses. Most of my settings seem to be kept at what I intend except for the next sizes and dimension settings. I changed my text sizes in "Header Text (ANSI)", "Label text (ANSI)" and "Note Text (ANSI)" and dimension settings at "Default (ANSI)".  Those are the changes that didn't appear to be what I had wanted.  Any idea why styles editor didn't save them?

Did you check that the Object Defaults are using the styles you changed?

Are you sure you hit save on each change?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't stick otherwise.

I just re-check and I was using the Object Defaults.  I guess temporarily I will just have to save as the actual template drawing and not use the "NEW" drawing and choose the file from them template folder.  Thank you for all your help.

You really shouldn't have to do that.

Can you capture a screencast of you showing your default template location, and editing the styles of your template?

It might illustrate what's going on better.

I'm unable to do a screen cast but I just attached a couple of screen shots.  I hope this would work.

Is 'Note Text (ANSI)' the text style you modified? Is that the one you are wanting to use for Object Type 'Border Text'?

And just so we are on the same page, what will I create in the drawing that will be dependent on 'Note Text'?

I would like to see the dimension settings and text size in the revision block and title block to be the same size as I currently set in the template drawing I just attached.
